Review: The Shadowed Sun
The Shadowed Sun by N.K. Jemisin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars
Jemisin's world-building is always exquisite, but this time I think she does a better-than-her-usual-good job of character development as well. I think this is my favourite of her works so far. It reminds me powerfully of some of Ursula LeGuin's work (which - for me at least - is high praise.) The Egyptian aspects of the setting come through clearly, but it's a multi-faceted world with a lot of subtle influence from elsewhere as well.
